Now the first thing to mention about Evogen IsoJect is that this stuff is just plain fancy, it’s the Aston Martin of Whey Isolate Products. It’s the kind of expensive supplement that deserves pride of place on the worktop, top of the fridge or wherever you may store your supplements. You definitely want your mates that lift too see you’re supping on the very best after a workout.

I generally tend to have very good digestion, but always avoid Whey Blends and Casein or Concentrates because they give me bloat and the tummy ‘gurgles’. Which is why you’re more likely to see me drinking Dymatize Iso 100 than anything else. I do have a preference for hydrolysed (or pre-digested whey isolates) as I find they sit much better in my tummy and obviously absorb with optimal efficiency, so especially important if you are after something with a fast injection of Protein pre or post workout (with Carbs to prevent oxidisation). However as with most Sports / Bodybuilding supplements these days there are literally hundreds of options and as previously mentioned many applications. Some like casein before bed, other (like myself) prefer direct Amino’s (BCAA). So how do you chose which to buy when it comes to Whey Protein? Well I usually base my purchasing protocol on the following 1) The Application, 2) Quality, and 3) Taste. Whey Protein is probably the only supplement I don’t mind paying extra for the expensive but quality products, so I never buy according to price.
So what about the actual profile, well there’s no amino spiking for starters which has become quite common over the last few years? The Whey itself goes through an extremely sensitive manufacturing process to ensure it is top quality, and also contains an Evogen patent precision Enzyme technology called ‘Ignitor’ that is designed to enhance absorption. There is 25g of Protein content per scoop and 28 servings per tub. But I usually have around 35 to 40g per serving so the tub lasted longer.
When it comes to Whey products I have always found hydrolysed much better in terms of recovery, there is some evidence to suggest this is due to the associated GLP-1 (hormones in the stomach) response. My recovery with IsoJect was on par with any Whey hydro product I have used, and likely testament to the ‘Ignitor’ technology used by Evogen.
So in summary Evogen IsoJect scores as follows:
Taste – Chocolate Peanut Butter was a 10/10 for me, I can only say it reminds me of Peanut Butter brittle and has a lovely earthy after taste. I can’t wait to try the Cinnamon Roll flavour next
Mixability – 10/10 This was a lot more viscous than my other Whey Isolates and had a lovely texture. Mixing was easy, no blender required
Ingredient Profile / Effectiveness – 9/10 This is a top quality product delivering perfect ratios for the macro conscious, and more than enough Protein per serving size. My recovery was excellent whilst using this. Plus I couldn’t wait to use it and found myself having more Protein Shakes than I would usually.
Price – 7/10 This is a tough one to score. In my opinion if you know you are getting a top quality product its worth paying for, however some people will find IsoJect a little too pricey, as it is close to twice the price of other top branded Iso Products. With such products ‘less’ is most definitely ‘more’ and this is the case with IsoJect, at 25g of quality Protein per scoop you don’t need 2 full scoops per serving. I guess you could compare IsoJect to Champagne compared to a standard White Wine. It’s pricey and they both contain Grapes but you’re paying for quality.
