New to the Powerbody range we've got OATEIN, the new oats and protein flapjack.These bars come in 5 great flavours and luckily I got to try all 5; Banoffee Pie, Chocolate & Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chip, Cherry Bakewell and Cookies & Cream.
I was a fan of all the flavours, I honestly couldn't fault any of them, to pick a favourite it would have to be Chocolate & Peanut Butter, the dark chocolate chunks and peanuts mixed in a great and each bar comes with a coated bottom chocolate (dark, milk or white depending on flavour).
The bars are very different to the usual protein flapjacks you find on shelves, they have a very home made quality to them, not as artificial as others on the market, this goes from the texture to the appearance of the bars. Made with a blend of rolled, jumbo and toasted oats, these are a really robust bar and very filling, so great for a healthier snack or as a balanced meal of your on short on time.
To give you a break down of what you'd be getting per bar:
- 305 Cals
- 19g Protein
- 37g Carbs
- 8g Fat
This is approximately, each bar does vary slightly but as you can see it's a good breakdown and would equate to a good balanced meal, so no need to miss any meals now. Obviously they come with a great slow releasing carb source, so should keep your energy levels running throughout the day.
My only criticism would be, I would have liked more of a blend of protein, the protein source is Milk Protein, which is good, it's going to give you a nice time released source of protein with aprox 20% Whey, although in my opinion a blend including more Whey would have been more appealing to myself. Secondly, although these bars taste and do look more natural than other, there is a big ingredients list for something so simple, nothing that stands out as being too bad though.
The packaging on these is great, very eye catching and colourful which gives them a really nice finish.
In conclusion I would recommend these bars to anyone that likes a flapjack, great range of flavours that all taste delicious, definitely my personal favourite of the many protein flapjacks I've tried in my time.
